The Race is now on!

With the Olympic Torch arriving in UK today, the race is now also on for the launch of UGA's Programme of Exhibitions, Films, Performance, Talks and the Catalogue which begins on the 22nd June at the MAA Cambridge. I have been too quite on the blog lately, as my feet have hardly touched the ground and performance rehearsals, development of the catalogue and the creation of artworks has taken the front seat and I have been able to think of little else.

The certificates of sponsorship came through yesterday for Nondumiso and Thobani, who will be arriving in UK from Cape Town on the 19th June, and step by step all of the final arrangements are falling into place.

The development of the UGA Catalogue has given me a moment to reflect on just how far I have travelled during the last 18 months, from the moment I stood in front of Nondumiso's Body Map painting at MAA, what started as a sensation, became a dream and is now a reality. There have been plenty of hurdles along the way to try to jump over, no race is ever won without a huge amount of effort, we all know that, but somehow the UGA team are all still upright and moving forward at a pace.

Andrew Mitchelson (editor) and David Caines (designer) with the huge support of  Nikki Tomlinson and Gill Lloyd and all of the contributing writers have enabled me to create the most beautiful thought provoking UGA Catalogue for the commission, which we are now all looking forward to launching on the 22nd June, at MAA (it will be available at the Exhibitions) and is also available to order at:
