Thobani is coming to Cambridge!
An Angel Sent by God
It was with massive excitement that we received the most generous, unbelievable offer at the end of my GV art + Urban Times presentation a couple of weeks ago. A long time patron of my work, friend and artist herself, who has been following the development of the project from the very start, offered to support one of the members of the Bambanani Group to come to UK for the Opening of the MAA Cambridge Exhibition on the 21st June, the offical start of the Cultural Olympiad. Our original plans were that Nondumiso would be travelling to UK for the opening of the Cambridge Exhibition, but with this fantastic offer, I have now also invited Thobani to UK in June.
Thobani, has spent many years campaigning for the Treatment Action Campaign, he is a tremedous speaker, and brings a huge insight into the early complications of the HIV/Aids crisis in SA. I received this message from Thobani last night.
“Life is great when you take care after yourself”.
The dream that I was never thought about or could have imagined has just arrived to me like an angel sent by God. At the age of 41 years I will be travelling to London for the first time in my life. Its not going to be my first time on the plane but being on the plane for more than 10 hours is going to makes me the happiest man in my life, and it is going to paint a picture that I will never forget in my mind. I am really so excited, honoured and being encouraged to be the man that I am today. Now I am counting down the months that are left to be in Cambridge, UK.

Greetings Thobani, I just read your statement and would like to very much welcome you to the UK. Cambridge is a beautiful town full of heritage and learning. It was a joy to watch and follow the collaboration, artwork and expressions of the Bambanani group on the website. I hopefully meet you and hear you speak and from poet/writer to you as an artist, keep on, because you know that it keeps us sane.
