Performance & film screening & talk at the Southbank Centre, London

Performance co-directed by Rachel Gadsden and choreographer Athina Vahla, featuring performers Freddie Opoku-Addaie and Sarah Chin and Gadsden creating visual art live on stage.They are joined by Michael Mannion (lighting); Chas De Swiet and Paul Gundry (sound); Mamoru Iriguchi (design). The premiere of this performance is followed by a screening of four short films, featuring Rachel Gadsden and the Bambanani Group. Shot on location in Khayelitsha Township and at SOBEIT Studios, Cape Town, in October 2011. Made by Gadsden with filmmakers Cliff Bestall and Deborah May, each portrait offers a glimpse of the world as seen through its subject’s eyes; at turns joyful, resolute, defiant, heartfelt and poetic. Viewed together, the series presents multiple reflections on the political and personal currents explored throughout Unlimited Global Alchemy. The evening concludes with Rachel Gadsden & three of the Bambanani artists in conversation with Tony Heaton, CEO (Shape Arts)
